Grand Canal Dock is the working heart of Dublin's docklands — a redeveloped basin surrounded by the European offices of Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Airbnb and a cluster of other major tech firms, anchored by Daniel Libeskind's Grand Canal Square and the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. For corporate guests visiting any of those companies, an apartment within walking distance puts you a short stroll from the office, the after-work restaurants and the DART for trips into the city centre or out to Sandymount Strand.
EirStay's Lombard apartment is the closest — a two-minute walk to Grand Canal Square, and a 10-minute walk to the Aviva Stadium for guests combining a tech-sector visit with a rugby international or concert. Our other Dublin 2 properties — on Wellington Quay, Aungier Street and Camden Street — are 20–25 minutes' walk along the south quays, putting you between the docklands, Trinity College and Grafton Street. For longer corporate stays, the leafy Donnybrook (Dublin 4) properties are a 25-minute walk south through the embassy quarter.
Our Lombard apartment is a two-minute walk to Grand Canal Square and the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, with the Google EMEA campus on Barrow Street a few minutes further on.

Grand Canal Dock is a former 18th-century working dock at the seaward end of the Grand Canal, redeveloped from the early 2000s into one of Europe's most concentrated technology and financial-services districts. The water itself is still navigable — used for stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding and the Dublin Bay sailing community — but the surrounding quays now host the European offices of Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Airbnb and a cluster of other major tech firms, alongside the Irish offices of most of the global accountancy and consulting firms.
At the centre sits Grand Canal Square, designed by Daniel Libeskind and Martha Schwartz Partners — a public plaza of red-stick angled lighting and emerald-green polygons that has become one of Dublin's most-photographed contemporary spaces. The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre fronts onto the square, the Marker Hotel (a Marriott Autograph Collection property) anchors the south side, and a string of waterside restaurants line the quays on both sides of the dock.
From the Lombard apartment, you're effectively at Grand Canal Dock — turn out the door and you're at Grand Canal Square in about two minutes. From Wellington Quay or Aungier Street, follow the south quays east past the Custom House and over the Samuel Beckett Bridge — 20–22 minutes; the route is flat and well-lit. From Camden Street, the most direct walk is via Cuffe Street, Stephen's Green and then east along Pearse Street (about 25 minutes); the Luas Green Line is faster as far as Stephen's Green if you'd rather skip the first half on foot. Grand Canal Dock DART station sits on the north side of the basin and connects to Connolly, the city centre and Bray. Dublin Bike stations cluster at Grand Canal Square and along Pearse Street — a five-minute cycle from any of our Dublin 2 apartments.
Our Lombard apartment is a two-minute walk to Grand Canal Square — effectively at Grand Canal Dock itself. Our Aungier Street and Wellington Quay apartments are 20–22 minutes' walk along the south quays; Camden Street is about 25 minutes via Stephen's Green and Pearse Street.
Google's EMEA campus on Barrow Street, Meta's Dublin office on Hanover Quay, LinkedIn (a short walk west), Airbnb at Watermarque and a cluster of other major tech firms all sit within a 5–10 minute walk of Grand Canal Square. For corporate guests visiting any of these offices, our Lombard apartment is the obvious base.
It's one of the strongest areas in Dublin for a tech-sector corporate stay. You're walking distance to most of the major tech offices, a short walk or DART to the IFSC financial district, and a 15-minute walk to Trinity College and the Dublin 2 business district. After-work, the docklands restaurants and the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre give you somewhere to actually be in the evenings.
Yes — the Aviva is a 10-minute walk south from Grand Canal Square via Lansdowne Road. Convenient if your Dublin trip combines a tech-sector visit with a rugby international or concert at the Aviva. See our apartments near Aviva Stadium page for the same properties viewed from the stadium side.
The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is Dublin's 2,100-seat West End-style venue, hosting the touring productions of major musicals (Hamilton, Wicked, Les Misérables, The Lion King), the Irish National Opera season, ballet and arena concerts. The Lombard apartment is a two-minute walk to the front doors — handy for late-finish shows when you don't want to queue for a taxi.
The Grand Canal Dock DART station is on the northern edge of the dock. Trains run every 10 minutes north to Connolly, Howth and Malahide and south to Sandymount, Dún Laoghaire and Bray. Useful for guests with day trips to the coast or meetings outside the docklands.
