The Guinness Storehouse at St James's Gate is Ireland's most-visited paid tourist attraction — over 1.7 million visitors a year ride the lift to the seventh-floor Gravity Bar for a pint above the Dublin skyline. It sits at the heart of the Liberties, the historic Dublin 8 brewing district, just up the road from Christ Church Cathedral, the Teeling Whiskey Distillery and the Roe & Co Distillery.

EirStay's Dublin 8 apartments — in Kilmainham, Islandbridge and the South Circular Road area — put you a 10–20 minute walk from the Storehouse, with the rest of the Liberties whiskey-and-stout trail, Kilmainham Gaol, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Phoenix Park all in the same loop. Better space, full kitchens, much more authentic than a tourist hotel.

About the Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Storehouse opened to visitors in 2000 in a converted 1904 fermentation plant at the heart of the working St James's Gate brewery. Built around a central pint-glass-shaped atrium that rises seven storeys, it tells the story of the Guinness family, the brewing process, the famous advertising campaigns, and the global cultural reach of the world's most recognisable stout.

The seventh-floor Gravity Bar — where every adult ticket includes a complimentary pint — has 360-degree views over Dublin and is one of the most-photographed bars in Europe. The St James's Gate brewery itself, founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness on a 9,000-year lease, still produces over 3 million pints a day on the same site.

Getting to the Storehouse from your apartment

From the Kilmainham apartment, walk east along James's Street for 10 minutes — you'll pass the Roe & Co Distillery on the way. From Islandbridge, head south via Steevens' Lane and St James's Hospital. The Luas Red Line stops at James's, two minutes from the Storehouse main entrance, for guests staying further afield. Dublin Bike stations sit beside both our Kilmainham property and the Storehouse — a 5-minute cycle each way.
