About Trinity College Dublin

Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, Trinity College Dublin is Ireland's oldest university and the country's highest-ranked, with about 20,000 students and a global reputation in literature, law, computer science and medicine. Notable alumni range from Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett to Mary Robinson and the founders of Stripe.

The campus is a 47-acre island of cobbles, lawns and Georgian and Victorian buildings in the centre of Dublin 2. The Old Library and Long Room — home to the 9th-century illuminated manuscript known as the Book of Kells — is one of the most photographed interiors in the world. The Trinity Business School, on the east side of the campus, hosts a steady stream of executive-education programmes, conferences and corporate events.

Frequently asked questions

How far is EirStay from Trinity College? +

Our Temple Bar apartment on Wellington Quay is a 4-minute walk. Aungier Street, Camden Street, Italian Quarter, Jervis and Lombard apartments are all within 15 minutes' walk. We don't have any property more than 25 minutes' walk from the Trinity front gate.

Are EirStay apartments suitable for parents visiting Trinity students? +

Yes — this is one of our common bookings. Parents visiting students in Trinity residences, Halls or off-campus accommodation usually book a one or two-bedroom apartment for a week or longer, in walking distance of the campus and most of the city's restaurants.

Can I book an apartment near Trinity for a conference? +

Yes. Trinity Business School and the Long Room Hub host frequent academic and corporate conferences. Our Aungier Street, Camden Street and Wellington Quay apartments are 4–15 minutes' walk and significantly more affordable than Dublin 2 hotels for any stay over two weeks.

Do you offer apartments for graduations at Trinity? +

Trinity graduations (commencements) draw families from around the world and Dublin 2 hotels routinely sell out at 3–5x normal rates on graduation days. EirStay rates don't change — book early to lock in a Dublin 2 base for graduation week.

What is the minimum stay near Trinity? +

A 14-night minimum applies. For shorter Trinity-area stays we recommend a Dublin 2 hotel.
