Living in Donnybrook for a Month: A Practical Guide for Work Stays
18 September 20267 min read
When you are coming to Dublin for a month, choosing a neighbourhood is about more than where to spend a weekend. You need somewhere that works on an ordinary Tuesday: getting to work, buying dinner and having space to relax afterwards.
Donnybrook offers a village setting in Dublin 4, with local shops and nearby Herbert Park. Here is how to assess it for a longer work stay—and how our three apartments can fit different needs.
Start with a home that fits your working week
A month in Dublin is long enough for the everyday details to matter. Somewhere to unpack, prepare dinner and spend an evening outside the bedroom can make a work stay feel more settled. In Donnybrook, our collection includes two two-bedroom apartments and one one-bedroom apartment, giving individuals, households and colleagues different ways to stay.
Donnybrook 1 is a two-bedroom option for guests who need more than a one-bedroom base. For two colleagues, separate bedrooms can offer privacy while the kitchen and living room remain shared. For a household relocating together, the same layout can provide space to establish a routine. Check the listing’s sleeping arrangements rather than assuming that maximum guest capacity means a separate bed or room for everyone.

The advantage of staying in a neighbourhood is not having to make every meal an outing. Stock the kitchen on arrival, work out where you will buy breakfast and keep a few easy dinners ready for the evenings when meetings run late.
Groceries and something easy for dinner:Donnybrook Fair, at 87–91 Morehampton Road, is a village option for food shopping and prepared meals to enjoy back at the apartment.
Everyday essentials:Tesco Donnybrook Express, at units 5–7 Donnybrook Mall, stocks fresh and frozen food, drinks and household essentials—useful for breakfast supplies and last-minute dinner ingredients.
Coffee, brunch and a toastie:Happy Out Donnybrook offers coffee, toasties and a brunch menu. It is a local option for a morning coffee or a relaxed weekend meal away from your own kitchen.
An evening out:Marco Pierre White Courtyard Bar & Grill, at 1 Belmont Avenue, gives you a restaurant option in the village for an evening when you would rather leave the cooking to someone else.
These are some of the local places featured in our Donnybrook area guide. Having groceries, coffee and dinner options nearby makes it easy to mix evenings at home with time out in the village. The links above take you directly to each business for menus, opening hours and reservations.
Herbert Park: make time for something other than work
Nearby Herbert Park in Ballsbridge gives a longer stay an outdoor option beyond the trip to the office. Dublin City Council lists a duck pond, playground, tennis courts and other sports facilities. A walk through the park can be a simple way to spend a lunch break or part of a day off.
Opening hours change with the season. In autumn and winter, plan around daylight and the council’s current closing times rather than assuming the park will be open after a late finish. Sports facilities may have their own booking arrangements; staying nearby does not include access to a court or organised activity.
Donnybrook 2 is the other two-bedroom apartment in our collection. If you are comparing homes for a month, look at the room layout and facilities as well as the neighbourhood. Small differences can matter when two people are working from the same accommodation.

Donnybrook is a Dublin 4 base to consider for assignments in the south city, but “working in Dublin” is not a precise enough brief. Two offices with similar postcodes can involve very different journeys. Give us the actual workplace or site address and the time you need to arrive.
The E1 and E2 bus services serve the Donnybrook corridor and connect it with the city centre. These services were introduced through the BusConnects E-Spine changes in January 2025. Older guides mentioning the 46A or 145 are out of date: TFI confirms those routes no longer operate.
Use Transport for Ireland to check the stop, direction, connections and current timetable for your journey. Include the walk at both ends, waiting time and the time of day. A bus route through the city centre does not mean every office in the Docklands or IFSC has a direct door-to-door connection.
Donnybrook village does not have its own Luas or DART station. If rail is central to your working week, compare the walk or onward connection with an alternative location before booking. For early starts, late finishes or changing project sites, check the return journey as carefully as the morning one.
Bringing a car—or working from the apartment?
Our Donnybrook listings advertise free onsite parking. Let us know if you are bringing a car so we can confirm the arrangements for the apartment you book. Do not assume that several vehicles, a large van or charging an electric vehicle can be accommodated without checking first.
Parking at the apartment is only half the question. Check parking at work, the route you will use and whether driving is practical at your usual start time. For a stay centred on one office, a car may be less useful than it first appears.
If you will work remotely for part of the week, Donnybrook 3 is a one-bedroom option with a dedicated office space listed among its facilities. Tell us if you need two simultaneous workstations, accessibility features or particular connectivity requirements so we can check the details rather than assume they are included.

Staying near colleagues without sharing every room
We also manage multi-unit properties. In Donnybrook, the two two-bedroom apartments and one one-bedroom apartment offer a potential combination for a company placing several colleagues in the same area. A pair might share one apartment, while another colleague has their own space.
That can make everyday coordination easier while keeping separate kitchens and living areas for different groups. It can also offer good value when compared with the total cost of separate hotel rooms—but the comparison depends on the quote, dates and number of people sharing. We do not assume a fixed saving.
All units must be available for the required dates, and extensions or additional apartments need separate confirmation. Our team accommodation guide explains how to compare shared homes and multi-apartment stays in more detail.
Who Donnybrook suits—and when to look elsewhere
Donnybrook is worth considering if you want a residential neighbourhood, everyday food shopping and access to green space while staying for several weeks. It can suit a relocating household, an individual on assignment or colleagues who prefer an apartment to separate hotel rooms.
It will not be the right answer for everyone. If you need a rail station close to your door, nightlife outside the building or a daily journey to the other side of Dublin, compare alternatives. Residential does not mean silent, and the exact apartment and surrounding roads still matter.
